DESCRIPTION:
E.C.Brewster & Co., Bristol, Conn. 8 day time and strike mahogany iron backplate lyre gong beehive clock, c1841
CONDITION:
this is an early, heavy and rare Kirk patent brass-mainspring clock, with rack & snail striking, made by Brewster prior to his partnership with Ingraham. The iron mainspring caps are there but we did not look inside to see if springs are original. The case has its old finish and frosted glass tablet with Brewster's small paper label still tacked inside. Note scarce wood dial with gilt chapter ring in good condition. The movement ticks and strikes but should be serviced. Ht 19"
